What does the bible say about ghosts? Today, more and more people are believing in the concept of ghosts. But what does the bible say about the existence of such things? The Bible makes no direct mention of ghosts. Some people believe they have seen ghosts but the bible does not confirm or deny their existence. According to Hebrews 9:27, when a person dies "it is appointed for man to die once, then comes judgement". The bible teaches that us that after death there is no bodily functions or consciousness until the day of judgement. So, it would appear the bible doesn't support the idea of ghosts.
However, some Christians believe that ghosts may be the spirits of people who are not at rest. They base this idea on verses that refer to people being "put to rest" (1 Samuel 28:8-19; 1 Chronicles 10:13), or of God "gathering up" the spirit (2 Kings 21:12). They also point to passages in the New Testament which speak of Christ's coming to "give rest" (Matthew 11:28), and, therefore, believe these references may indicate that death is not the end.
These ideas are not widely shared by Christians as a whole because they do not sit well with other Christian teachings about life after death. The bible clearly teaches that at the moment of physical death, the spirit leaves the body and goes immediately into either heaven or hell depending upon whether you have accepted Jesus as your savior or not. So, it would appear that ghosts are not real and if they were to exist, the bible doesn't think much of them!
The bible stands firm in its teaching that the only way of communicating with the dead is to contact your departed loved one through prayer. The Lord Jesus instructed us to pray for one another (Matthew 5:44). If you have a departed loved one that you would like to contact then talk with God about them and ask for His help. If you do receive a sign or message from beyond remember that it is the spirit of your loved one, not your loved one. They are not able to come back from the dead so it is actually the spirit who has contacted you. Remember, our departed loved ones are able to see and hear us whenever we pray for them (so be careful what you say).

Christians find comfort and peace in the idea of a heaven. They believe that God will provide for them, be with them, and share eternity with them. If you're not a Christian or don't want to think about death right now then we'll just leave it at this - ghosts are not mentioned or confirmed by any biblical sources so they may as well exist.
